Founder
Glenn Clark (1882-1956), the founder of CFO, was a professor of English and a highly successful
college athletic coach. While on the Island Farthest Out in the Atlantic Ocean off the eastern
coast of the United States, he had a dream of groups of people meeting together over a period of
time to experience the wholeness of the spiritual life through learning how to practice the presence
of God in every area of their lives.
Dr.Clark layman, eminent author, professor, philosopher, Christian man
of prayer and faith believed men and women could become Athletes of
the Spirit. By that he meant that to live in the Kingdom of God, here
and now, we must enter into training as does a physical athlete. It
seemed to him that "farthest out" was symbolic of going "all the way"
in seeking God and the laws of His Kingdom. Thus, our name, Camps
Farthest Out.
Glenn authored over 50 books and leaflets on the spiritual life. Many of these are available
for PDF download.
Statement of Faith
We as CFOers from around the world unite in reaffirming the sovereignty of God,
the uniqueness of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, our dependence upon the Holy
Spirit for wisdom, guidance and power, and the authority of the Bible.
Statement of Purpose
The Camps Farthest Out is a Christian lay movement to inspire, instruct and provide means
of experience for individuals and groups to make life more meaningful and effective; to
coordinate the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life under the Person and principles
of Jesus Christ; and to apply to life the laws and realities of the Kingdom of Heaven, as set
down in the Scriptures and as experienced in contemporary living.
Mission
To experience the adventure into the wholeness of the Spiritual Life in which we learn to
search the depths of and live out our relationship with the Son of God, our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ.
History
Out of a great desire for world peace the Camps Farthest Out was born
in the United States.
This organism expanded internationally through the birth of the
Foundation Farthest Out (FFO). This foundation later became Camps
Farthest Out International (CFOI).
In 1954 the world dream developed further. Glenn Clark, accompanied by
Roland and Marcia Brown, made a world tour establishing prayer centers
and training centers with the CFO spirit for the encouragement of world
peace.
Thousands of people have given time in prayer, money and work to make
this dream a reality. "Mankind bathed in love and a world at peace"
have become the very center of all plans and growth. |
